Lost weekend

BU dropped both weekend games to Vermont by identical 4-3 scores. In both games, the Terriers came from behind to knot the score at 3-all, only to see the Catamounts reply with the game-winner. In doing so, the Catamounts became the first team in 16 years to pull off a weekend sweep on BU's home ice.

Chris Higgins’ team-leading seventh goal to open the scoring on Saturday was his 13th point of the year, bringing him within two points of the career 100-mark. Game one recaps: BU Athletics, USCHO. Game two recaps: BU Athletics, USCHO.

With the two losses, BU, now 7-4-0, dropped to eighth in the USCHO/CBS College Sports national poll. The Terriers are back on the ice tomorrow, playing Holy Cross in their first-ever matchup with the Crusaders.

Congratulations to the Terrier Women’s team that stretched its unbeaten streak to ten games with a 4-1 win against Boston College at Conte Forum. The win propelled the Terriers to the 4th spot in the national rankings.

Looking back:
Former Terrier defenseman Ryan Whitney, sidelined since the summer following foot surgery, began skating, but remains about three weeks away from rejoining the Penguins. Whitney met with the media to discuss his recovery, the Pens' power play and the upcoming Steelers-Patriots game (video).

Ex-Terrier John Grady was honored with the Thomas H. Fitzpatrick Award during Saturday's BU-Vermont game. The Fitzpatrick award is is presented annually to an alumnus of Boston University for inspirational presence offered unselfishly to Terrier Athletics. Grady, a former co-chairman of the Friends of BU Hockey, was a volunteer coach for the Women's club program that preceeded the current varsity and is a member of the BU Athletic Director's Council.
