Wilson "stars" for Nashville

Colin Wilson, the Predators first-round draft choice in 2008, made a statement right out of the gate, turning in a one goal-two assist performance that earned him first-star honors in the exhibition season opener at the Sommet Center in Nashville. Wilson assisted on the first and fourth goals and scored the final goal in the Preds’ 5-0 blanking of the Thrashers, finishing at +3 with one penalty. Video highlights:

Commenting on Wilson’s first game with the veterans, Coach Barry Trotz said:

"Some guys, they can't adjust their games or their game doesn't translate to the next level,'' "(Wilson has) got power, he's got some smarts. I thought Wilson was really good up front. He’s a really good talent, I’m glad we drafted him.”
Chris Bourque had an assist in the Capital’s exhibition win over Buffalo.

Dan Lacouture, a free-agent invitee to the Rangers' camp, was assigned to Hartford/AHL.
