Parker to receive 2010 Lester Patrick Award

Terrier head coach Jack Parker has been named a recipient of the 2010 Lester Patrick Trophy, recognizing outstanding service to hockey in the United States. Joining Parker in the 2010 class are his longtime rival, BC coach Jerry York, former Bruin Cam Neely and AHL President David Andrews.

Parker enters the 2010-11 season with a career 834-429-104 record, all at BU, which ranks him third on the all-time NCAA coaches’ list.

Previous Terrier winners of the Patrick Trophy are Dick Rodenhiser, a member of the gold medal-winning 1960 U.S. Olympic Hockey Team, and the four BU members of the 1980 gold-medal winning U.S. Olympic Hockey Team: Jim Craig, Mike Eruzione, Jack O'Callahan and David Silk.

A presentation ceremony in Boston is being planned by the NHL.

2011 NHL draft profile
In an ESPN profile of 2011 draft prospect Matt Nieto, former NTDP U18 coach Kurt Kleinendorst says the freshman winger "is an absolutely beautiful player. He's a thoroughbred. He's strong as an ox. He's got toughness. His skating and puck skills are never going to be an issue."

Kleinendorst also points out that Long Beach, Calif., native needs to be more determined on the ice, while an NHL scout says he'd like to see more consistency in Nieto's game.

Looking back
Former Terrier All-American Colin Wilson, approaching his second NHL Seaton with Nashville, talked with Red Light District Hockey, and asserts that BU’s 2009 NCAA championship remains his top hockey thrill.

Jason Lawrence, BU’s top goal-scorer on that 2008-09 team, will be playing for the Dutch elite team Eindhoven Kemphanen in Netherlands this season after splitting his time with ECHL Charlotte Checkers and ECHL Gwinett Gladiators last season.
