Terriers fall to BC, 4-2

In a game that belied the final score, BU dropped a hard-fought decision to arch-rival BC at Agganis Arena. The visitors got on the board less than a minute into the game when Destry Straight was unmarked in the BU crease.

Despite numerous power plays for both teams, there was no further scoring until midway through the third period when an Eagle shot thrown on goal from the corner banked in off Matt O’Connor.  Just over a minute later, BC extended the lead to 3-0.

Matt Grzelcyk’s first collegiate goal narrowed the margin, but a BC empty-netter restored the lead to two. Alexx Privitera (photo) wristed home a Matt Nieto feed on the power play to close out the scoring. O'Connor stopped 20 of 23 shots while absorbing his first loss, but still earned second-star honors.
Coach Jack Parker:“I thought it was an exciting game to be involved with [and] it was an exciting game to watch. I was amazed that the score was what it was at the end of the second period with all the power plays, but both teams did a great job of killing penalties.
“We’ll see them again later on. And this game will make us grow up. This game will help us. Either way this game was going to help us. I thought we hung in there and played pretty well against the No. 1 team in the nation.”
