Tuesday Linkorama

Inside BU Hockey will make its 2013-14 debut Wednesday.  The Webcast series, now in its third season, is hosted by Terrier play-by-play announcer Bernie Corbett. Guests for the first Webcast will be new Head Coach David Quinn, new Associate Head Coach Steve Greeley and Co-Captain Patrick MacGregor.

Expanding beyond his radio duties, Corbett also is the driving force behind a new Thanksgiving weekend tournament planned for Providence’s Dunkin Donuts Center.

NBC Sports Network will air a minimum of five regular-season Hockey East games this season, with three involving the Terriers: 11/2 vs. North Dakota; 1/31 @UMass; 2/24 @UNH.

Turning out for Autism speaks (from goterriers.com)

The entire Boston University men's hockey team continued its partnership with Autism Speaks by volunteering at the 13th annual Greater Boston Walk Now for Autism Speaks fundraising and awareness event at Suffolk Downs in East Boston. More than 18,000 people, including individuals with autism, their families and friends joined together at the event each year for the walk.

The men's hockey team arrived at the event before 8 a.m. and assisted in various aspects of the day from setup to breakdown including registering walkers, speaking with participants and interacting with children and parents throughout the day. The Terriers' captains also had the honor of helping cut the starting banner and lead the walk.  During this upcoming season the BU men's hockey team will continue to wear blue Autism Speaks puzzle-piece patches on their jerseys to help promote Autism awareness.

Looking ahead

2014 recruit J.J. Piccinich earned USHL Player of the Week honors after scoring four points (3g, 1a) in two games for Youngstown. He has a 6-3-9 line in six games. Phantoms coach Anthony Noreen:

“This is a tremendous testament to our league and a tremendous testament to JJ and the time he’s put into developing and becoming a better, more complete hockey player. We’ve always known the goal-scoring was there, but his overall game has really developed and I think that’s why we’re seeing the early scoring output.”

Women’s Team

The Terriers open the 2013-14 season with a pair against ECAC opponents in upstate New York. Friday night, the Terriers face Rensselaer in Troy, followed by a Saturday afternoon matchup with Union in Schenectady. Last season, BU reached the national championship game—for the second time in three seasons—dropping a 6-3 decision to undefeated Minnesota.
