Inside BU Hockey features Collier & Curry

Episode 18 of Inside BU Hockey features Bernie Corbett’s interviews with Head Coach David Quinn, freshman forward Brendan Collier, who scored his first collegiate goal on Monday, and former All-American goalie and 2006-07 Hockey East Player of the Year John Curry.

A recruited walk-on following a prep all-star season at The Taft School, the Shorewood, Minn., native played only five minutes as a freshman, but took over the starting job as a sophomore and never let go of it, winning 59 games over three seasons, backstopping BU’s drive to the 2006 Hockey East Championship (photo) and becoming a fan favorite at Agganis Arena. Curry, who has appeared in four games in the NHL with Pittsburgh and now plays for the AHL Iowa Wild, will be inducted into the BU Hockey Hall of Fame in May.

Olympics
Kevin Shattenkirk recorded his third assist of the Olympics in Team USA’s 5-1 quarterfinal win against the Czech Republic. He’s tied with Ryan Suter for most points among US blueliners. With the win, Team USA moves to the semifinals and plays defending champion Canada on Friday in a game slated for Noon, Eastern Time, airing on NBC Sports Network.

Left wing Greenway, who earned second-star honors, has 31 points (11G, 20A), while right-shot defenseman McAvoy has 14 points (6G, 8A).

Women’s Team--Olympics
The four Terriers on Team Canada—Marie-Philip Poulin, Jenn Wakefield, Tara Watchorn and Catherine Ward--will be aiming to make sure Canada repeats as gold-medal winner, when they take on Team USA tomorrow in the tournament final. The game begins at Noon Eastern and airs on NBC. Four years ago in Vancouver, Poulin scored both goals for Canada in its gold-medal game win against the Americans.
