Sunday Linkorama



NESN announced that it will air the Feb. 15 BU-New Hampshire game at Agganis Arena during which retired Terrier coach Jack Parker’s number (#6). Captain of the 1968-69 Terriers, Parker would coach his alma mater for 40 seasons before retiring last March. His teams won 894 games—third largest total in NCAA history—and three NCAA championships, seven Hockey East championships and 21 Beanpot championships.

Looking back 
Former Terrier and Hockey East Rookie of the Year in 2006 Brandon Yip scored Portland’s only goal in a 7-1 loss to the Senators. Binghamton’s assistant coach is former Terrier captain and 1970-71 All-American center Steve Stirling, a member of the BU Athletics Hall of Fame. 

Looking ahead
2014 recruit J.J. Piccinich scored the game-winning goal early in the third period as Youngstown defeated Dubuque, 5-3, to break a five-game losing streak. The right wing from New Jersey also added an assist and now has 37 points in 37 games. With 21 goals, he is tied for third in USHL goal-scoring. Former Terrier Alexx Privitera scored Dubuque’s final goal to bring the Saints to within one before the Phantoms scored again.

2014 recruit Ori Abramson assisted on two Hitmen goals as New Jersey’s USPHL Premier level team celebrated Super Bowl Day with putting up a touchdown against the South Shore Kings in a 7-0 shutout. The 6-4, 215 lbs. blueliner from Toronto has seven assists in the past five games and 23 points for the current season.

Four future Terriers in the US NTDP program are headed to Europe for Five Nations Tournaments. 2014 recruits Jack Eichel and Johnathan MacLeod and their U18 teammates head to Dmitrove, Russia, while 2015 recruits Charles McAvoy (photo) and Jordan Greenway and the U17s will be playing in Sundsvall, Sweden. The U.S. teams will take on teams from the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia and Sweden.

Women’s Team 
Terriers completed a home-and-home sweep of Connecticut with a 5-2 win at Walter Brown Arena. BU broke a 2-2 tie, scoring the final three goals. Senior captain Louise Warren notched her second career hat trick and added an assist, while sophomore Sarah Lefort added two goals and an assist. Freshman Samantha Sutherland assisted on three goals while classmate Victoria Hanson stopped 24 of 26 shots.

Both Warren (20) and Lefort (21) reached the 20-goal mark.
