Game Day—Terriers in Maine to play the Black Bears

Terriers are in Maine to take on the Black Bears at the always-hostile Alfond Arena. Puck drop is at 7:30 p.m. for the game, which airs nationally on Fox Sports Pacific as well as on The Terrier Sports Radio Network. Only one game for this weekend for BU, which hosts the Black Bears next Friday night at Agganis Arena.

The all-time series shows BU holding a 58-50-13 edge, including 18-8-5 in the past 31 meetings. In 52 games at Alfond, the Terriers are 22-23-7. In this week’s episode of Inside BU Hockey, BU’s 1994-95 captain, Jacques Joubert, discusses memorable BU-Maine match-ups during his career.

A year ago, Maine had its way with BU, winning 7-0 at Alfond and 7-3 in a Frozen Fenway game. But it’s been a slow start this season for the Black Bears, who are 2-2 in Hockey East and 3-6-1 overall.  They’re led by sophomore forwards Cam Brown ( 5-4-9) and Blain Byron (3-4-7).  Another sophomore, Matt Morris, has handled most of the goaltending.

For BU, freshman Jack Eichel leads the conference in "overall points" (13) and the nation in "points per game" (1.86).  Junior Danny O'Regan and freshman Evan Rodrigues have 11 and 10 points respectively. Junior Matt O'Connor brings a 1.61 GAA into the game.

Junior Ahti Oksanen (3-2-5, photo) returns to the line-up after missing the Connecticut game and is expected back on the first line with Eichel and O'Regan. However, Coach David Quinn revealed that BU will be without sophomore Robbie Baillargeon (mono) and freshman Nikolas Olsson.

Alex Chiasson scored his fourth goal of the season as Ottawa edged Edmonton in overtime, 4-3.  Recap and video . The former Terrier MVP neatly deflected a slapshot between the legs of former Cornell goalie Ben Scrivens.

Kevin Shattenkirk’s 13^th assist was the primary one on Paul Stastny’s game-winner for St. Louis as the Blues defeated Nashville in overtime, 4-3. Shattenkirk leads the Blues in assists and is fifth overall in the NHL. Recap and video.
