Game Day: BU hosts New Hampshire

#2/3 Terriers return to action and begin a home-and-home series with New Hampshire tonight at Agganis Arena with puck drop set for 7 p.m. The game will air on NESN and TSN2.

Tomorrow’s game at the Whittemore Center in Durham has been moved up to 4 p.m. and will air on WBIN-TV and Fox Sports Atlantic.

With three weeks left on the regular season schedule, BU is atop Hockey East with 26 points, four points ahead of second-place BC and with a game in hand.  The Terriers will be seeking to extend their winning streak to seven games for the first time since 2008-09.

While scoring contributions from the second and third lines have increased in recent weeks, the Terriers continue to get strong production from their top line of senior assistant captain Evan Rodrigues, junior Danny O’Regan and freshman Jack Eichel. The trio has totaled 46 points (18G, 28A) in the eight games they’ve skated together. 

Rodrigues, winner of back-to-back Hockey East Player of the Week awards, was interviewed on NESN during Wednesday's Bruins game broadcast (video).

Junior netminder Matt O'Connor, with a 15-3-3 record, owns the fifth best save percentage in the nation, .935. 

The Wildcats, uncharacteristically in the lower part of conference standings, are led by sophomore Ty Kelleher with 31 points (12G, 19A) and seniors Grayson Downing (24 points) and Matt Willows (23 points).  Willows had a hat trick against the Terriers last season.

►BU will host a visit tonight from New York’s Ice Hockey in Harlem non-profit program. BU began a partnership with the social and academic improvement organization last season.  During the Terriers' Thanksgiving Weekend trip to New York (for the 4th every-odd-year edition of Red Hot Hockey against Cornell at Madison Square Garden), members of the team found time to help and inspire urban youth.  The Terriers visited Wollman Rink in Central Park, where they skated with and instructed the youngsters.

Former Terrier captain and U.S. Olympian Mike Eruzione greeted Ice Hockey in Harlem students last season.
