Game Day: BU vs. NU for the Beanpot Championship UPDATED

Two weeks later than originally scheduled, the Terriers and Northeastern will meet tonight in the 63rd Beanpot Championship game at TD Garden. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. but depends on the conclusion of the consolation game. NESN and TSN will broadcast the game and a live stream should be available on CrickFree . (Correction)

BU will be looking to end a three-game non-winning streak, to earn its 20^th win of the season, and to secure its first Beanpot crown since 2009.

Winners of three of their last four games, the Huskies are led by junior Kevin Roy with 39 points (16G, 23A) and sophomore Dalen Hedges with 31 points (8G, 23A). Goaltending chores have been split by Clay Witt and Derick Roy.

► Episode 2 of BU Hockey – The Season focuses on the Terriers’ two-game visit to Wisconsin that yielded a come-from-behind tie and a decisive win.

► During Saturday's game, BU launched a campaign to promote freshman Jack Eichel's candidacy for the 2015 Hobey Baker Award. Fans received campaign pins with the slogan "I Like Eich," recalling the slogan used by President Dwight Eisenhower in the 1950s.

► Freshman Jack Eichel was part of a news feature on USA Hockey’s NTDP during NBCSN’s Hockey Day in America coverage.

 ► Former captain Jacques Joubert, back at BU for Friday night’s 20-year commemoration of the Terriers’ 1995 national championship, talked with the Daily Free Press about the current squad.

Looking ahead

2015 recruit Maxim Letunov (photo) scored a goal and added an assist in Youngstown’s 8-5 win against Green Bay. The 6-3 center, with six goals in his last six games, now has 50 points (21G, 29A) in 45 games. 2016 recruit Vas Kolias also had an assist for the Phantoms.

2017 recruit David Farrance (photo) has been named USPHL 16U Most Valuable Player and also Defensive Player of the Year. The left-shot defenseman racked up 52 points on 27 goals and 25 assists for the Syracuse Stars.

Former Terrier Sean Escobedo (photo above) has signed a professional tryout contract with the AHL Hartford Wolfpack . The second-year pro had played 44 games with ECHL Greenville, producing three goals and 12 assists and a +16 rating.
