Freshman rankings; Terrier fan event set for September 23--UPDATED

With the beginning of college hockey season just a few weeks away, first-year players are being scrutinized for the impact they’ll have this year.

ISS Hockey has published its list of the top 30 NCAA freshman and three Terrier rookies are among the first 15: Jordan Greenway (photo) is ranked #6, Jakob Forsbacka-Karlsson is #8 and Charlie McAvoy is #15.

SBNation issued its ranking of Hockey East recruit classes, rating BU’s seven-man class as second best:

Impact Player: Forsbacka Karlson is a gifted play maker who will dish the puck out well. He's not the fastest of skaters, but his hockey sense offsets that. He is the player most likely to make an offensive impact right away.

Sleeper: (Ryan) Cloonan was originally slated to arrive in 2016, but was pushed up to this fall when J.J. Piccinich left for the OHL and Letunov fell through the admissions process. The Boston Junior Bruins prospect has blazing speed and can find open teammates. A former Maine commit who fielded offers from BC, UVM and Colorado College, he's gritty and plays hard. He should be a fan favorite.

BU has officially announced Chris Dyment as the new Director of Hockey Operations, as was reported by SB Nation earlier in the week. The release noted that:

Dyment spent the past two seasons as head coach of the New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs of the United States Premier Hockey League (USPHL). He ran day-to-day operations for the Hooksett, N.H., organization, including recruiting, contract negotiation, practices, game preparations and trades. In addition to the USPHL season, he also put together and coached teams for spring and summer showcases.
