Marshfield mates to be reunited ?

The Boston Globe’s Fluto Shinzawa spoke with former Terrier captain and longtime NHLer Mike Sullivan about the ups and downs of his coaching career. After an eleven year NHL playing career and a brief stint behind the P-Bruins bench, Sullivan, at the young age of 35, became the Boston Bruins head coach for the 2003-2004 season. That lasted two seasons and was followed by "assistant" positions in Tampa Bay, New York and Vancouver.

As a Terrier, he captained the 1989-90 squad that reached the Frozen Four after rallying past top-ranked Michigan State, winning the series, 2-1. Sullivan scored a key goal in BU's game two win at the Spartans' Munn Arena:

This summer Sullivan was named head coach of the Penguins' AHL affiliate in Wilkes Barre/Scranton, where the Marshfield, Mass., native is likely to have on his roster another Terrier from the same hometown, one with whom he has a close relationship. Former BU blueliner David Warsofsky (photo), who is a god-son to Sullivan’s parents, signed a free-agent contract with Pittsburgh this summer.  A member of the Terriers 2009 national championship team, he spent the past four seasons in the Bruins organization.

►Hockey News cover boy Jack Eichel discussed his off-season and preparation for his first pro season with NHL.com’s Arpon Basu.

CBS Sports reports that Eichel, who turns 19 this fall, will be living with Buffalo Sabres teammate Matt Moulson. That should lead to some interesting conversation when Red Hot Hockey at Madison Square Garden draws near as the Terriers renew their rivalry with Moulson's alma mater, Cornell.

Looking ahead

Future Terriers headed to Ann Arbor for their first NTDP seasons:

Two future Terriers now in the prep school ranks will spend time this fall in top Midget U18 programs.

2016 recruit John McDermott (photo), who will be a senior at Westminster School, will skate this fall for the Mid-Fairfield U18s. He’s a 6-2, 194 left-shot forward, who scored 28 points in 28 games last season

2017 recruit Patrick Harper, who is accelerating to complete his high school education at Avon Old Farms, is back with the Neponset Valley River Rats, skating for the U18s. Last season, he scored 30 points in 14 games with the River Rats, before putting up a 20-27-47 line in 22 games for the Winged Beavers. At this summer’s Select 17 Development Camp, the 5-8 forward was the top goal scorer and tied for points leader.
