With
the return to health of Senators goalie Andrew Hammond, Matt O’Connor has been assigned
to Ottawa’s AHL affiliate in Binghamton, N.Y. O’Connor, who stopped 31 of
34 shots in his NHL debut last Sunday, won’t be the only Terrier in Binghamton.
Assistant Coach Steve Stirling (photo) captained BU’s first NCAA championship team in
1971, scoring 70 points and earning first-team All-American honors. He later coached at Babson and Providence College and, in the NHL, was head coach of the
NY Islanders.
Women’s
Team
Four former
Terriers helped make history in the first
National Women’s Hockey League game pitting the Connecticut Whale against
the New York Riveters. Shannon Doyle, Kaleigh Fratkin and Anya Battagligno
skated for the Whale while Taylor Holze played for the Riveters. The NWHL is
the first paid women’s professional league.
