Freshman netminder Jake Oettinger talked with Hockey Prophets’ Zachary DeVine about the path that led him from Lakeville North High School in Minnesota to USA Hockey’s NTDP and now to BU. The 6’4” netminder who participated in the recent USA Hockey Junior National Team evaluation camp and is expected to be one of the first goalies selected in the 2017 draft, explained:

“When I came to attend the NTDP, one of the key things that me and my dad talked about was being about to go to schools like BU. Just having that exposure coming out here. When I went on my visit to BU, I fell in love, and I fell in love with the coaching staff. Coach Quinn and everyone out there are definitely the type of coaches I really wanted to play for. A school like BU where you can get great education and also live in Boston is the complete package.”

Oettinger is one of four NTDP U18 alums in the 2016 recruit class, joining Clayton Keller, Chad Krys and Kieffer Bellows.
