While reading these comments, please bear in
mind two mitigating factors:
1. The level of competition was far below that
of Hockey East.
2. The flow of the game was very uneven and
disjointed due to the number of penalties that were called. Nonetheless...
1. BU’s freshman forwards showed high-end speed and finesse, which
is easy to say about guys who combined for eight goals.
2. Jake Oettinger stood tall during a couple of five-on-three
PK's, including a nice stop on a breakaway and during a major penalty kill.
3. Dante Fabbro and Brandon Hickey (photo) worked well as the point
pairings on a couple of power plays. Charlie McAvoy and Chad Krys were the
other PP point duo.
4. BU looked a little loose in its own end of the ice.
5. In addition to the power play (which went 6 of 11), McAvoy
played a strong game.
6. BU did a nice job on the PK, killing 12 of 14.
