Terriers return to conference play with a home-and-home series against UConn
that begins tonight at Hartford’s XL Center. Puck drop is set for 7 p.m.
The
Huskies are coming off a series at Ohio State that produced a 3-3 tie and a 7-4
loss. Last season, BU lost to UConn at the XL Center, 5-2, three days after
defeating the Huskies at Agganis, 4-2.
UConn
is led on offense by two NHL draft picks, Tage Thompson (7G, 7A) and Maxim
Letunov (4G, 7A). Goaltending has been split beween veteran Rob Nichols and
freshman Adam Huska.
BU,
which will be seeking its first Friday night victory since the Sacred Heart
game, has been paced by freshman Patrick Harper (5G, 9A) and sophomore Jordan
Greenway (5G, 7A, photo) .While freshman Jake Oettinger has started all nine previous
games, it’s expected that junior Connor LaCouvee will be between the pipes
tonight.
Terriers
will be without injured centers Clayton Keller and Ryan Cloonan again. Nikolas
Olsson, who has resumed practicing, may be available during the weekend series.
Special
teams are likely to be a key factor in the game as UConn’s power play is
clicking at 22.2% while BU’s penalty kill registers 90.3%.
