Oettinger, Harper lead US White past Canada Red; Tkachuk is "relentless"

Jake Oettinger stopped 22 of 24 shots and Patrick Harper contributed a goal and two assists in USA White’s 8-2 win against Canada Red in WJSS action yesterday. David Farrance, recently added to the U.S. roster, assisted on two goals, including Harper’s first-period tally.

USA Blue dropped a 2-1 decision to Canada White in the second game. Logan Cockerill assisted on the lone U.S. goal.

A combined U.S. squad takes on Sweden today at 4 p.m. ET, while a combined Canadian team plays Finland at 1 p.m. ET. Both games air live on NHL Network. Check back for roster updates.

Brady Tkachuk: Relentless

By Neal E. Boudette
Brady Tkachuk has not yet turned 18, hasn’t played a game of college hockey and won’t be drafted for another 10 months. But he’s already emerged as a rising star in American hockey and a likely pick to make the USA world junior team.
In preliminary games at USA Hockey’s World Junior Summer Showcase, the incoming freshman has a goal and an assist, but seems to create a scoring chance almost every time he’s on the ice, either with his skills or his intense, relentless, physical play.
One NHL scout told me Tkachuk is “an absolute lock” to make the USA team.
Even before the WJSS, he was projected to be a 2018 draft first-round pick, with Future Considerations ranking him at #6.
