Greenway, Bach earn top athlete honors at Rhettys


At last Monday’s “Rhetty Awards,” Jordan Greenway, who recently began his professional career with the Minnesota Wild,  was named the 2018 recipient of BU’s Mickey Cochrane Award as the university’s top male athlete. Greenway tied for the team points lead (35) and also skated for Team USA at the 2018 Pyongchang Winter Olympics.

Senior Victoria Bach was named a co-recipient of the Mildred Barnes Award as leading female athlete.  Bach earned first-team All-American honors this season and was a finalist for the Patty Kazmaier Award (top D1 player). She set new school records for career goals (104) and points (183) and was second in the nation this season with 39 goals.

Other award recipients were: Shane Bowers—Male Breakout Athlete; and Erin O’Neil—Female Unsung Hero. Bach also was recognized for “Play of the Year” for scoring her 100th career goal.

Coach David Quinn, who had been under consideration for the vacant New York Rangers’ head coaching position, reportedly has told friends he will remain at BU.


Quinn was recently named head coach of the 2019 U.S. Junior National Team, which will compete in the World Junior Championships in British Columbia. NEHJ’s Jeff Cox projects the top candidates for that squad, including current Terriers Brady Tkachuk and Logan Cockerill and incoming freshmen Joel Farabee and Jake Wise.


Looking ahead
USA Hockey has officially announced 21 members of next season’s NTDP U17 squad. Three Terrier recruits are on the roster: 6’3” right-shot forward Dylan Peterson, 6’0” left-shot forward Luke Tuch and 6’1” goalie Drew Commesso. Last season, Peterson played for the CIH Academy Midget White, Tuch skated for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 16Us and Commesso tended goal for St. Sebastians.

2019 recruit Robert Mastrosimone has been named to the All-USHL Rookie First-Team. The 17-year old Long Island native is the youngest member of the All-Rookie team. He scored 45 points—third best among USHL rookies--for the Chicago Steel, who tendered him last summer.
